Streetwear is a combination of clothing from the New York hip-hop scene with influences from Californian surf culture, and includes elements of sportswear, punk, skateboarding and Japanese streetwear. The term streetwear first appeared in the mid-1980s, when the American company Vision Skateboards launched a corresponding clothing line under the name Vision Street Wear.
